Logistic MotorSport was formed in 1998, by Myself (Peter Formosa) after being invited to attend a Hillclimb meeting at Gippsland park at Morwell in Victoria. After the meeting I decided to build a car of my own. I spoke to friend of mine (Rob) otherwise known as (Sideways Syddall) about being a partner in building a car. We looked at a few cars then decided on a Datsun 1600. After finding a car, it was then a large task of making quite a few adjustments to enhance the running and handling of the car. After discovering the CAMS rule book, it became apparent that we were allowed to do more than first thought.

So away we went, in search of our first big change - An FJ20DE motor and gearbox. After looking and looking and more looking, we discovered a motor in NSW. I negotiated a price and had it shipped to Melbourne. Now the task of fitting this power plant was not easy as the fitting kit was a little out of whack. So with some modifications a few bangs here and there I made it fit.

Then there was the task of finding some decent Carbies to fit and having then tuned correctly, with the help of TWIN CAM SERVICES in Seaford, thanks to Peter Backhouse we were in business. Then it was off to the track for some testing, at first we had a lot of trouble with understeer, but a change of springs and strut inserts away we went.

It was then time to have a go at building a new car, I decided to build another 1600, but this time it was time to try Fuel injection. I sourced an SR20DE from Adelaide and shipped it to Melbourne. Then I started looking for a shell, which I found  in a wrecker in Bayswater. The shell was a bit damaged from an accident, which was soon straightened at Fairlam Restorations in Cranbourne, ( Good Job Richard). 12 Months down the track and out rolled the new car, sporting a coat of blue paint and a good strong engine. I was ready to race, well that's what I thought, practice at the 1999 Australian Hillclimb Championships on the Friday proved to be a nightmare as the understeer was uncontrollable. Friday night was a quick phone call to one of my sponsors WESTERNPORT ENGINEERING SUPPLIES, who was kind enough to open shop after hours and make me a new front crossmember, which was previously sourced from another friend from OZDAT, Richard Clough (thanks Richard). 1am Saturday morning we (Steve, My father in law Ray and Myself) finally finished the front end.

Early Saturday was up to the front end alignment shop (O'Connell's TyrePower Moe), then to the track. Problem solved the car handled like a dream, no more understeer and it was good enough to place me 3rd in the class.
